I had a PS2, got rid of it when I realized that an Xbox and a Gamecube served my needs very well. The PS2 has a bigger software library than both my consoles combined, but I dont even have enough time to play and finish the games I have purchased for the other two systems.
I mean, who doesn’t want to boss inanimate objects around by barking orders at them? No, the issue is that the software itself is not intelligent enough to allow our commands to be an effective method of control. If I hear one more play onLord of the Ringsin reference to the Xbox One, I’m going to vomit. In its bid for galactic entertainment domination, Microsoft has crammed nearly every conceivable piece of cutting-edge tech into one box, hoping it will become the ultimate home entertainment hub. Finally, the Xbox is not a true universal disc player; it does not support high-resolution DVD-Audio and SACD playback.
Need help configuring a TV / Soundbar / XBOX One
Right now I just have my Cube, but I would like to branch out into a Box once I actually graduate. Most people here have PS2, but most of the threads on here focus on the X-Box because it's just now getting a lot of must-have games and X-Box Live. Still, I kept the console in charge of my entertainment system for about a year.
"We tried and gave up, and I really think it is something you need to be pretty sophisticated to do." Globally, 23.8 million PS4 consoles were sold as of August 3, according to website VGChartz. That is far ahead of the Xbox One's 13.1 million and the Wii U's 10 million. The most recent global PS4 hardware numbers provided by Sony were more than 20.2 million sold through to consumers as of March 1 and 25.3 million shipped to retailers through June. In stark contrast, the most recent global Wii U hardware sales number provided by Nintendo was 10.01 million as of June 30.
Xbox One X owners thread
"Demand for a $500 device that can control your home entertainment system is fairly small," said Cole. Xbox One sales only "picked up" when Microsoft "unbundled the Kinect," he said. Microsoft's initial strategy for the Xbox One was a "complete flop, and it fell apart long before they unbundled" Kinect from the console, said David Cole, CEO of game research company DFC Intelligence. "Customers just flat out rejected it because it was too expensive and the PS4 provided a better gaming experience at a lower price," he said. The most direct setup option is to connect your cable or satellite set-top box to your Xbox One with an HDMI cable, and then connect your Xbox One to your TV with another HDMI cable.
The interface is clean and simple, but it certainly doesn't hold a candle to Roon or Kaleidescape. Since the One X lacks analog outputs and internal DACs, the audio quality ultimately will be determined by your external audio processor, be it an AV receiver, preamp, external DAC, etc. I will note that, even when I set the box for 5.1 PCM audio output, it still output stereo music in 2.1. Once you sign in to your account through the app, you can perform many of the same search/setup/community functions via the app so as not to disturb the onscreen viewing experience. Microsoft provided me with codes for a few popular games, as well as subscriptions like Xbox Game Pass and EA Access, and it was much faster to enter these code keys using the app's virtual keyboard than the onscreen interface. The setup process begins with pairing the Wireless Controller, choosing your language, and connecting to your network .
How to Pick the Right Projector for Your Viewing Needs
If you want the best, brightest picture quality for your outdoor home cinema, you should use an outdoor movie screen. The Epson LS K laser projector delivers a big, beautiful image and has most of the features you need. Is our favorite portable projector for movies thanks to its built-in Android TV, good-looking image, and small size. Sound quality is important when you’re picking an AV receiver, but it’s critical to find one with the features you need, so we have multiple recommendations. I'd wager more of the people on the forum are multi-console users than anything else.
The programs can also be downloaded to those other devices, said Microsoft. The different audio setup options for games/app on the one hand and BDs/DVDs on the other is confusing. On the plus side, the Blu-ray bitstream output is great and works exactly as it should for disc playback.
The ability to search across all services for the show or movie we want to watch is essential now, so Microsoft better bring it. Started with an LG OLED 4k TV and added a new Dennon A/V unit with Polk audio speakers. We also need to know more about how the Xbox will handle media stored on a network.
As soundbar performance continues to improve, does anyone need to invest in an AV receiver and speakers to get great sound? If you have no idea where to start, this guide will walk you through the process of choosing and buying a TV, step by step. Has all the features we look for in a media streamer, and Google’s interface is the best at finding and organizing content.
I have an Xbox and Gamecube, and have been getting a lot of use out of both lately. No real interest in a Ps2 (final fantasy had me tempted, but it wasn't quite enough) yet, but we'll see what happens. Switch the audio output on your Receiver - you should start getting sound from all 5 speakers. At least some older PlayStation games can be played now on the PS4--but only by paying to stream them through the PlayStation Now service. It remains to be seen how much, if at all, this will hurt the PS4 and help the Xbox One in the months to come. Still, Wedbush's Pachter doesn't think that any of the PS4 and Xbox One TV features will amount to much when it comes to consumers deciding which console they should buy, he said.
Ask my wife, and I guess she would say "not much" after finally controlling her laughter. Still, I managed to set up an Xbox One to control the home entertainment system in my living room back in 2013. I confronted a few challenges at the time while trying to get the Xbox One to control my Panasonic plasma TV, Scientific Atlanta cable box, and Denon receiver. The console didn't automatically recognize the TV model; however, once I selected said TV model from a list that popped up, it worked. Finally, I wasn't able to turn the Xbox One on and off by simple voice prompts of "Xbox On" and "Xbox Turn Off" until I received a tip from a Microsoft spokeswoman on how to select that capability in the setup menu. In the Ultra HD Blu-ray category, Oppo's $549 UDP-203 would be the logical competitor, price-wise.
I love just about everything about my Xbox One but this oversight is ridiculous. My HT doesn't support 5.1 audio through HDMI so even when I run it through my TV I can't get 5.1. It does support it over the Optical port but that is where the One is broken. It will be updated eventually they've said but this is one of those things that I just don't see how you miss in testing. I'm thinking on buying a home theater that is compatible with OG Xbox One and that may be compatible with Series X but I would really like some input from those who have gotten one. Connect your set-top box HDMI output to the Xbox One HDMI input.
